OUR HOLIDAY HERITAGE! ....Children and their toys......

Yes, Folks, it's important to remember that even though there are still terrible cases of child abuse and neglect in our own time, in ages past people were much more cavalier in their treatment of children, even among the rich. In Victorian times, if a child was at all sickly or given to "fevers" or "spells", a parent might decide to abandon them by a roadside, sell them to gypsies, a carnival, or a munitions factory.... or perhaps, if they could afford it, buy them an expensive Christmas present that said and did things in the middle of the night that would simply frighten a child to death....or drive them to suicide. Perhaps you had a toy like that, but you knew better than to give in to such suggestions!...or perhaps you just killed the toy before it could kill YOU! That's what I did!!!...
